English Action Camp in Full Swing
July 14, 2016 | John David and Sara Bennett
Beloved friends and family!
The hours are counting down for the arrival of this summer’s Short-term Missionary Team from San Diego, California! We have to take a deep breath sometimes and reflect on how beautifully the Almighty has orchestrated pieces to come together for this year’s English Action Camp. We are praying not only for 40, mostly un-churched Spanish young people who will spend next week with us at Los Naranjos Christian Camp, but for our team who will play a vital role in demonstrating an upright Christian testimony to the campers through team building games, workshops, hiking and being there for these young people at this key point in their impressionable lives.
Scholarships: We remain very touched that the Lord provided scholarships for deserving young people here in Puebla del Rio. May the Lord certainly bless and multiply that investment in the lives of these young people who will be able to attend thanks to the generosity of others.
Our Family: Please pray for us as a family, as we take Abigail and Sarah Ruth up to camp for 8 days. Another family helping us direct the camp this year, the Ashcrafts, will also be bringing their children too. Please pray that we can care for all 50 of these minors under our watch this week, and that the Lord will protect all from sun-stroke, fever, and injury.
Our prayer: for this week is that we as a team can love and encourage each other as Christ loves the church, united as one body and team. “For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.” 1 Cor. 12: 12-13
1. For us to make the best of every opportunity before furlough. Update: We continue to be very busy with our ministry at the Puebla church. This past Sunday we were able to put on a Marriage Seminar together with our co-workers Frank and Salud. Who knew Sara and I would ever help host something like that? The Marriage Seminar was very successful, with 16 couples attending including visiting couples from outside our Puebla congregation. So we thank God for this progress in Puebla del Rio.
2. Provision for our travel back to California. Update: Praise the Lord we were able to find the right storage unit and a parking garage to store our belongings and vehicle while we are on furlough.
3. For English Action Camp, for:
a. Traveling mercies for our short-term missionary team coming from Mission Valley Christian Fellowship and for our other team members also traveling from Arizona, Huelva, and Malaga (within Spain).
b. For an effective and poignant week of testimony and example to all the Spanish young people who are coming, that we can plant seeds of faith in the campers, and especially that we can harvest fruit from campers who are coming on their third year.
c. For perseverance and great teamwork in the hot weather.
4. For our family to do well with travel, changes coming back to the U.S., and for our speaking opportunities to come together in the coming months.
The Updates to the Prayer Requests section show how your prayers work!
