Exciting News from the Bennetts!
June 15, 2016 | John David and Sara Bennett
Dear Friends & Family!
June is here with graduations, heat and summer plans! We hope this finds you well and contemplating what God will do in your life this summer!
These past few days JD has had his hands full with sign-ups for English Action Camp; the annual outreach camp that we started three summers ago. It’s really a good problem to have; he has non-Christian, Spanish parents who won’t leave him, the local missionary, alone! The way we have seen God bring together this camp is both amazing and humbling. As we’ve prayed about the need for counselors, campers, a short-term mission team, scholarships and camp materials and logistics, the Almighty keeps answering our prayers: Yes, Yes, Yes! Our cup overflows, what else can we say? Please pray for the many campers we will get to spend a week together with this July 11-16th at Los Naranjos Christian Camp, in Cazalla de la Sierra.
This week you can be praying for JD as he has to do a special diet and fast to prepare for some tests he will have to undergo on Friday (June 17), which will require him to be under anesthesia. JD is going to have to eat a lot today to make up for the coming fast! Thanks for your prayers!
As we look back on this year of service we can say it has been one of the most productive, challenging, emotionally straining, and the most fruitful years of service in the 11 years since JD arrived in Spain. We are thankful for your faithful support that has allowed us to pour ourselves completely into this ministry, and for your prayers that have carried us through many good and bad times. We are grateful for your generosity and encouraged to see progress here.
Another way that this has been a very productive year is that JD has graduated from his Master’s Program at Southern California Seminary! Equally exciting was the outcome of JD’s residency renewal. Instead of just renewing JD’s residency permit, we found out that the office that we have had years of trouble with, had not only granted JD, but our entire family Long-Term Spanish Residency Permits! We were left marveling at what the Lord has done for us!
In 2 months we will be wrapping up our term of service at Puebla del Rio Evangelical Church, where we have been assigned since 2008. Now before us lies an exciting new chapter! We have had days of prayer and vision in the south of Andalucía, and we sense this may be our next destination, to begin a brand new church-planting work. So please pray for us as we seek the Lord’s direction now and during furlough.
In August we will be starting furlough. We are really looking forward to catching up with many of you! If you would like to open your home and invite friends to come hear about our ministry in Spain, or if you attend a group or church where you think we could share our ministry and vision, please get in contact with us, it would be such a help to line up churches and groups where we can come visit. You can call us by phone (Home: 011-34-955-325-336, Cell: 011-34-695-265-268) or by email (email@example.com, Skype: sarajshine), as we are seeking to fill-up and chart out our schedule for furlough.
Our May Newsletter is also attached below as a pdf. document. Just click on the link and it will take you there to see what happened last month.
1. For us to make the best of every opportunity before furlough.
2. Provision for our travel back to California, and to be able to find the right storage unit and parking garage to store our belongings and vehicle while we are on furlough.
4. For English Action Camp, for:
a. Traveling mercies for our short-term missionary team coming from Mission Valley Christian Fellowship.
b. For an effective and poignant week of testimony and example to all the Spanish young people who are coming.
c. For perseverance and great teamwork in the hot weather.
5. For our family to do well with travel, changes coming back to the U.S., and for our speaking opportunities to come together in the coming months.
All our love,
JD, Sara, Sarah Ruth & Abigail
