Our Furlough Blessings in Abundance
October 18, 2016 | John David and Sara Bennett
Bennett Travel update:
We experienced a “bump in the road” with some car trouble in New Mexico and we had to make some decisions and more importantly PRAY. On one hand, we had the mechanic shop estimate we needed to spend a horrible amount of money in repairs (which sounded crazy) but on the other hand we would have to risk continue driving and risk a break-down or getting in an accident in the New Mexico desert.
God answers prayer in the morning…
Early that morning, I decided it would be good to call our missionary supervisor in Spain, Frank Benoit, as he is from Albuquerque, where we were having car trouble. Frank gave me the number of one friend, Pastor James Zahn from Alameda Bible Church. This pastor took it on himself to drive over to the inn where we were staying and he taxied us around and got us to Go Ye Missionary Transportation Auto Garage! (www.goyetrans.org)
“My God will supply all your needs according to his riches and glory.”
The mechanic there noticeed right away a bolt missing from front left axle, which he quickly replaced, then he proceeded to get to work fix the other problem we were dealing with. Then Pastor James drove 20 miles out of his way for us, to take us to a home he set up for us to stay at.
If that wasn’t enough. Go Ye Missionary Transport gave us a courtesy vehicle. Then Righteous Rides also contacted us that they had a van for us to pick up in Missouri.
Does God answer prayer still? Yes. We are a little overwhelmed by the help we received from Pastor James Zahn and from Tom Coletta of GO YE Missionary Transportation.
God is good all the time…
NOW… More of the story….
Philippians 4:18 But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.
God has been so good to us on this furlough tour. It’s just not possible to catalog here all the ways that the Lord has blessed us on this Coast-to-Coast trip, but we can say: We made it, we are now with dear friends in Hampton, Virginia, very close to historic Jamestown and Williamsburg.
Home Presentations: Since our last update, we have had the chance to share about our calling to begin church-planting in Los Barrios, Andalucía, Spain, in presentations given in home settings in downtown Phoenix, Carrolton, and Fort Worth, Texas; and in Normal, Illinois. Tonight, Sara will be with one group in Hampton while I am at another in Norfolk, Virginia.
Churches We have ministered in and been ministered to in many good churches across the US: Alameda Bible Church in Albuquerque, NM; Southmont Baptist Church in Denton, Texas; East White Oak Bible Church in Normal, IL; and several opportunities in Virginia. It has been very encouraging to meet the Lord’s good people across the USA.
Our Righteous Ride: We were humbled by the way that Righteous Rides of St. Louis, Missouri, came through for us in an enormous way! Not only did this ministry (which provides missionaries on furlough with transportation) help us do this nation-wide trip with the help of a van, but they went way above and beyond what we were expecting! When I arrived at Righteous Rides Hub, I was greeted and helped by their volunteer staff. All of a sudden, all of these gifts and traveling care-packages for Sara, Sarah Ruth and Abigail started appearing. Righteous Rides provided us with a Furlough Essentials Bag, full of food and useful toiletries for the road, things we desperately needed when we arrived from Spain in August minus our two suitcases, because the airline lost our luggage for several days. Righteous Rides also had a clothes room, so we received 2 pieces of clothing each from the clothes store and all of us have worn clothes from it already! Finally, Righteous Rides provided our daughters both with personalized gift bags, so for us it was like a very early Christmas in Missouri! Finally, one of the Righteous Rides coordinators brought together the volunteer staff for them to hear about TBM’s Andalucía Project and how God has burdened us and opened doors for us to begin a pioneer church-plant in Los Barrios, Spain.
Please pray for us now, as we finish our time on the Eastern Seaboard, and begin the second half of our Nation-Wide tour, making our way West to Ohio. Please pray for traveling mercies for our family.
Thank you all for you prayers everybody,
JD, Sara, Sarah Ruth & Abigail Mae Bennett
