The Leatherwood Latest for July 2020

July 20, 2020 | Dan and Sharon Leatherwood

Dear Friends and Family,

Greetings from Navarra, Spain.  We hope that this letter finds you healthy and experiencing the love of our amazing God.  Although this time continues to be a very unusual point in history, we have seen how our God is so much bigger than what we face day-to-day.  Here we are in a period of the “New Normal”.  The returning to a more normal life outside of home has been gradual in the communities here in the north.  There have been some spikes of Covid cases so now it is mandatory to wear masks all the time outside of the home.  We have been able to meet as a church for two weeks now and have talked about how even though we come to church wearing masks, we need to remember that we come together being ourselves – the people God has made us to be.  We do continue to upload the services to our YouTube channel.  We have actually been having about twice as many views as people who come to church!  It has been exciting to see how the Lord has used this tool and will continue.

Sunday, July 12 would have been the end of our third week of camp this year.  With the reality of Covid, however, all camps were cancelled at the facility.  The other day, I (Dan) was talking to a neighbor in the street and he was telling me how sad his daughters were that camp was cancelled.  He explained that they were enjoying their summer, but that “camp is enjoyed in a much deeper and impactful way.”  We know that that is because it is God’s camp, where we get the privilege of serving Him as He works.  We mentioned in our last update that the camp facility will have a financial shortfall, and some had asked about the possibility of contributing directly to the camp with a one-time gift to help this ministry center.  As a result, our Mission, Tentmakers Bible Mission, has set up a special fund for this need and if you are interested in contributing to this fund please include a note designating the gift for the Tafalla Special Ministry Fund.

Thank you all for your prayers and support during this time that has affected everyone around the world in one way or another.  Please pray for us along with other missionaries here as we look for ways to effectively reach out to people in this moment when there are many obstacles making it difficult to reach out.

Beyond blessed,

Dan and Sharon Leatherwood for the family
