Hiding The Word In Our Heart

April 4, 2025 | Dan and Sharon Leatherwood

Dear Friends and Family,

2025 is flying past and we have had an eventful time with much more to come! The ministry of the church plant in Tafalla has reached into four surrounding towns which do not have an evangelical church. The group continues to grow in their desire to learn and we have brought back out the Scripture memorization activity that we did a few years ago. This came up at one of our Wednesday evening study groups as one of the newer ladies expressed a desire to memorize some verses. One of our long-time attenders shared about a past challenge that we took on as a church in which we memorized a Bible verse each week. We developed a small 4X6 inch booklet which had a verse written on each page. Along with each verse there was a 4–7-minute video made talking about its significance. We have since printed and put together 5 more of the verse booklets!

We started the year going through I John after completing James last year. We were examining how to live the Christian life and what that means. As the core group has continued to grow, there has been an increasing desire to live out their faith in tangible ways. This summer we are hoping to start up an open-air Bible study in two of the neighboring communities. Please be praying with us as we pray and seek wisdom for next steps. Along with this prayer request we want to include a request to pray that the Lord of the harvest would bring more workers to this area. The middle zone of Navarra has become an ethnically diverse area with many different needs and opportunities to reach out and yet the workers are few. Something exciting with the church group is that there is a married couple who has expressed a desire to serve and help lead. We want to mentor them in the next steps. Please pray for this new venture.

As we look ahead into the slower summer months here, we are planning to work on some much-needed projects in the church building in Tafalla. There is the usual upkeep like fresh paint and cleaning along with the need to revamp our children’s area. We have more families coming to services and activities and that means more children. Recently, as we were sorting through some of the toys and materials for kids, we have seen the need to renew some of them. In addition to this, we need to redesign the small staircase which leads up to the play area for improved safety. In addition to these projects, we also plan to restock our Bibles which we have on hand. We are shopping around to find ten large print Bibles. If you are interested in helping with any one of these projects, please contact us and we can let you know more.

On the family front, we have some exciting news! We are making a brief trip to the States very soon as Ashton will be graduating from CBU at the end of the month. Then, we head to Oklahoma where his fiancé is graduating and then they are getting married! The time is going to be quite full of exciting new memories being made. With this, Sharon is going to go early to help her mom as she has had three falls in a month. Please pray for the different details of the family time.

Thank you for your continued support and prayer for the church here in Tafalla, Spain.
Blessings,
Dan and Sharon Leatherwood
