My Mission in Peru:
Starting in January of 2024, I will be living and serving in Tarapoto, Peru for about three months. During this time, I will be serving in the Community Bible Church of Tarapoto alongside Delwin and Techy Fowler, and others. This is where I will have the opportunity to fully grasp and understand what international ministry looks like practically. While I am there, I will be given the opportunity to help with Vacation Bible School, assist with the Youth in the church, share my testimony and knowledge of the Gospel, and spend time in fellowship with others who love the Lord and who are devoted to living their lives to serve Him.

A Little About Me:
Hey there! My name is Haley Thomalla, and I am from Scottsbluff, Nebraska. This is the town where I was raised, educated, saved, and baptized. I grew up attending Monument Bible Church, where I was poured into and prayed for from the second I walked through the door. Despite having a classic Christian childhood, following a God who I could not see was something I struggled with from a young age. As an anxious overthinker, the idea of believing in something I couldn’t see and trusting that this would save me from eternal suffering was something that I struggled with into my adolescence. Around the age of thirteen, I heard a message at Camp Rock that would change my life, it wasn’t that I hadn’t heard it before, but that I finally understood. While this is where I developed an understanding, I did not see a real change in my life until a couple of years ago.

At the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, I really felt the Lord starting to work in my life. After a couple of hard deaths of friends and some rather convicting truths, I feel I finally understood the importance of valuing and sustaining a relationship with our Creator. I later lost my grandfather in June of 2021, which only helped to strengthen my faith and push me further toward the call. During the summers of 2021 and 2022, I had the opportunity to work at Camp Rock, where I could see the Lord at work in countless lives firsthand. After my first summer working at the camp, I started a Bible study with some of my peers and fellow camp staff, which only furthered the growth I had no idea I was capable of.

At the beginning of 2023, I had some unplanned (and unwanted) changes of plans with my college class schedule, which would result in a free semester starting in January of 2024. After I took a step back, I was able to see that this was actually a gift. I started looking into short-term mission trips, and after a lot of wide-open doors, I came to the conclusion that the Lord was sending me to Tarapoto. I am so excited and grateful to have come to where I am, and I cannot wait to see where the Lord is leading me.

No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.
Romans 4:20-21

And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
