Birthday Celebration A Success
April 22, 2020 | Delwin and Techy Fowler
Dear Praying Friends,
Hello again, thanks for your prayers and encouragement during this time of quarantine. When we went for groceries, we stopped at the stop light and gave six electrolyte drinks and crackers to the policemen in the intersection. By giving groceries to the needy we are allowed to drive around, Techy sitting in the back makes me feel like a chauffeur.
Sunday, we needed to celebrate a birthday. Jennifer is now 14 and we had a party without extra people in our home. The youth group sang happy birthday thru a zoom call but we got to eat all the cake. We had special meals for breakfast and lunch so it turned out to be a great day.
We are figuring out a bit more to do for church. Saturday, we do youth group thru zoom and it takes three sessions to finish as they can only be connected for about forty minutes at a time. Then I can preach the Sunday sermon on the church Facebook page, Comunidad Biblica – Tarapoto. I think if you like the page then you are able to listen but in Spanish.
After that I actually have preached the last two Sundays in English as well on my personal Facebook page, Delwin Fowler. I think anyone can join in by going to the page. Both the English and Spanish sermon then gets saved and you could still listen today if you like. We are trying to get zoom to work for Bible study as well but we may need to keep it at 40 minutes instead of the normal two hours. Some people do not get back on after the first 40 minutes and it is an awkward intermission that seems more of an interruption.
We still are obligated to spend our time in the house. There’s a curfew at 6 pm until 5 am where no one should leave. But the rest of the day one person could leave to get medical attention or food. But there are policemen and military every few corners and the city center is blocked off. Staying at home is the best option.
This will help you understand a bit more about what is going on in Tarapoto for us. Thank you so much for your faithful prayers and continued financial support allowing us to work together for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Have a great day and God bless,
Delwin & Techy Fowler
