Cowboy Camp Is On – Maybe

April 12, 2021 | Dan and Sharon Leatherwood

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you for your prayers as we moved back into the church building for our Sunday services in person.  The first week back, everyone came early and we were borderline with the numbers permitted with COVID restrictions!  There are some church members who have chosen to continue participating online, but the majority have returned and are participating in the program Challenge 52 (memorizing 52 verses that every Christian should know) which we mentioned in the last update.  In the next week or so, we are looking at adding in a midweek study online.

Please join us in prayer as tomorrow, Saturday, all of the camp directors are meeting to discuss the possibility of holding camps this summer.  In the case of our camps, we are dependent on a couple of additional factors (international travel being possible, and individuals in the US being willing and able to come).  We are praying for wisdom in making the right decision about camp.  The meeting tomorrow will be the first step.

Generation Zion– the apologetics program started by Ashton and his friend continues to amaze me.  Some may discount this group as it has been put together by two 17-year-olds, but it reflects maturity and knowledge beyond their years.  Regardless of your age, if you are interested in knowing how to defend your faith and knowing the evidence that exists to prove the tenets of Christianity, I encourage you to check out their stuff.  They have multiple videos on YouTube.  This Tuesday at 5pm Pacific Standard time, they have an invited guest, Dr. Mike Licona, who is a New Testament scholar who will be presenting The Event that Changed the World: A Resurrection (Evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth). I have attached a poster of the activity below with the meeting ID and the passcode for zoom.  If you have any questions, let me know.  Again, I would encourage you, regardless of age to check this out.

Thank you for your prayers and we hope to see you on Tuesday,
Dan and Sharon for the family

THIS IS A FOLLOWUP MESSAGE TO THE CAMP MEETING DETAILING THE RESULTS:

Thank you for your prayers about camp for this summer.  On Saturday, all of the directors met via zoom and had a time to pray and discuss ideas for this summer.  With our English camps we have decided to continue to prayerfully move towards holding camp this summer.  There are a couple giants standing in the way, however and we would like to ask you to pray that God would show His will through these:

1) International travel needs to be able to happen – specifically for individuals to be able to come from the U.S. to Spain.

2) We need active individuals who are native English-speakers and who are willing to come and spend anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks, ready to live out their faith in every aspect of daily life while pouring into kids from 7-14 years old.

Please join us in praying about these two needs.  Also, if you see that God has planted an interest in you to possibly come and help, please let us know. The campers have been signed up since February 1, 2020. Now we just need to figure out the other details…

Thank you for your prayers for us and the ministry here in Spain.  Please continue to lift up camp and the decisions that still need to be made.

With our love in Christ,
Dan and Sharon for the family
