Seeing Book of Acts in Action
June 17, 2025 | Dan and Sharon Leatherwood
Dear Friends and Family,
As we move into the summer months, it has been exciting to see how the Hand of the Lord continues to move in so many ways and we continue to be in awe of our amazing God.
In May, we had a great time celebrating Ash and Abbie’s wedding in Oklahoma City. It was a special moment as we were able to gather ALL the Leatherwood “kids” together for the event. Then we have had the privilege of hosting Ash and Abbie here in Spain for the past three weeks as they had set aside this time in order for Abbie to see and experience the context where Ashton grew up.
At the church we started studying the book of Acts and reflecting upon how the early church processed through the emotions they had faced in light of the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus and lived out their faith. We are in awe of God as He has continued to add to the body in Tafalla. We have reached a point where, this past Sunday, all the chairs were full! Logistically, Sunday is a full day as well. We had been picking up groups from two towns and have recently added a third town because a young man contacted me about wanting to come but didn’t have transportation! Bus service on Sundays is very limited. With family in town visiting, Sharon and any family members are dropped off at church about an hour and a half before the service so that all the seats in the car are free. Then I go and pick up the different groups. Additionally, there is a family in church that has been unable to come together since December because they do not have a car that holds their family. One of our other church members has offered to go to their town and pick the family up. It has been such a blessing to see how the body is responding to each other’s needs and desire to spend time together. Now we see individuals crossing the room to greet another as they walk in. It is a community like we haven’t seen in a really long time, and even then, it was only moments of it. This is the Book of Acts in action.
IMPORTANT PRAYER REQUEST…
Tomorrow (Wednesday June 18) at 6:30 pm we will be having the first mid-week Bible study in Peralta. Peralta is a town about 20 miles away and is the first stop on our “bus route.” It has a population of approximately 6000 people and does not have a ministry point. We will be meeting in an outdoor area next to the park. The two ladies that we pick up from there for Sundays have been busy contacting neighbors and friends to come for the Bible study. More than a programmed outreach, this has been a natural outgrowing from a heart that wants others to know about Jesus.
Thank you for your prayers for life and ministry here,
Dan and Sharon Leatherwood
