Summer Is Approaching In Peru
December 1, 2018 | Jeffrey and Angela Anderson
Dear Family and Friends,
As we approach summer here in Arequipa, Peru, the UV index hits 12 every day. Most UV index tables are 1-10 and 11+. This puts Arequipa at the extreme edge of radiation exposure. For my gringo skin, long sleeves and a wide brimmed hat are a must.
The last two Saturdays we’ve gone to Nueva Leticia and have made some promising contacts. Right now, the only religious group that we know of there is the catholic church. Please pray for César and for Diego. César is in his 50’s with a family. Diego is a 13-year-old boy and was our first contact in Nueva Leticia.
This afternoon we will be helping the young people as they minister in a boys’ home (INABIF) whose parents are in prison. Next Saturday, the 8th, we will be accompanying the young people on an outing to a nearby waterfall. The following week we will be heading back into Colca Canyon to the area around Cabanaconde. We will be visiting some of the brothers there and also want to visit some other villages that we haven’t been to yet to share the gospel. Some people have donated clothing and so we will also be distributing that where ever we find needs. Saturday the 15th also marks our 1-year anniversary and so the trip will be a two-fold evangelism & anniversary celebration trip. Sunday the 23rd we have a special day planned for the kids in Belaunde. We will have a store with items for sale but not for money. The kids have to memorize verses, the names of the books of the Bible, etc. in order to purchase items.
Please pray for Fortunato, one of the elders here in Arequipa. He has a good heart and studies the Word but is having difficulties in the home with his wife. For this reason, he is stepping down as an elder. His wife’s name is Sandra.
Well, it seems like there is a lot more to write, but in order to keep this letter shorter than a small novel, I will close.
Finish Strong,
Jeff and Angela Anderson
