The Rains In Peru Are Cause For Prayer

March 18, 2017 | Delwin and Techy Fowler

Hello from rainy Tarapoto. Actually, all of Peru is getting rain causing much flooding and landslides. Many have lost everything in the flooding and almost 100 people have died. Please pray for Peru.

This week was exciting here as well as last Sunday morning the large avocado tree in our yard fell onto the neighbor’s roof and then this morning we were awakened by a rather loud crashing sound which ended up being our wall around the property also falling.

I just wanted to let everyone know we are safe here in Tarapoto. We’ve had power outages which means the internet will be off as well and even when it’s working it seems to be even slower than normal. There has been rain in Lima which is so rare they say it never rains in Lima. This has caused much flooding and serious problems. Then the landslides throughout the country has caused many rivers to flood. Here in Tarapoto, it’s normal to have rain so the damage is minimal and expected.

Actually, we never expected our tree to fall or the wall to break up. But this allowed the neighbor to get a new roof and for us to show a little neighborly love. The wall will need to wait for the rains to clear before we can fix it. With all the cut wood piled around the yard, not many people nor animals should wander into our yard (except the chicken and the momma cat). We’ll see what happens and fix the wall when possible.

Soon after the tree fell, a chicken showed up in the yard and by the look on her face, she was not happy about the weather. Then a cat showed up, who was also talking unkindly about the situation. She went into our Sunday School Room and had a litter of kittens!

Thanks for your continued and faithful prayers for Peru and for our family!

Have a great day and God bless,

Delwin & Techy Fowler
