We Are Thankful For YOU

Hear my cry O God. Give heed to my prayer. From the end of the earth, I call to Thee when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Psalms 61:1,2.
Hi everyone,
Just a note to let you know how things are going in southern Brazil.
Since we last wrote we have had ups and downs with health issues. In August Skip had a bout with a urinary tract infection which left him plenty weak this time. Then he had trouble with acid reflux and a stomach bug. He had an endoscopy which found nothing serious. The Dr said it was a virus going around and with medication it got better. The last week of September, I was taking him out back for sunshine and we got to the back door and his good leg buckled on him and he fell on top of me, so he only scratched his elbow, and I got the brunt of the fall. Thankfully no broken bones but bruised. I had to call for help to pick him up and settled him in his chair. We have started using our wheelchair to take him outside for sunshine and to get out of the house. He walks inside the house so thankful that the wheelchair is just to go outside for now. But his legs are getting weaker. We have to watch him when he gets up so that he does not fall.
His mind is just as good as it always was, and he remembers birthdays and tries to communicate, and we do understand what he is trying to say. He has learned new phrases which helps. Wants us to read the hometown paper for him when they come. He listens to some tapes of Bible reading from Genesis to Revelation.
We still do fono twice a week and also exercises every day and the therapist (home care) comes twice a week to deal with the pain issue.
The end of October I got a real bad cold and through it all I lost most of my hearing in my right ear. Had to get new hearing aids as the ones I had were not doing so well. I have been having a time getting them adjusted so they don’t hurt my ear. What a trial to get to hear well!! My blood pressure gave me trouble and the Dr said to half the medicine and that has really helped.
Our daughter came down to help out with Skip and that has been a blessing. Her daughter will try to come in two months or so. We shall see.
The church is going well. We have three new people coming out and one of them asked to be taken into the church membership. A lady has been attending and is bringing her unsaved husband.
We are practicing a mini cantata for Christmas. I have never done this, but it is fun. So, we pray we can win someone to the Lord. Our ladies’ group will phase out this week and will resume in March, Lord willing. More ladies are taking interest in our studies so that has been a blessing for this year.
PRAISE…
…that we are finally feeling better
…that our daughter is here to help with Skip
…for new people coming out
…for his provision of our every need
PRAY…
…for our health needs
…for spiritual growth in our people as a church
…for salvation for these for whom we have been praying and witnessing to: Cristiano, Lucas (our dentist), Victor & Gabriella, and Cida (Dr Humberto’s nurse}
…please pray for the country of Brazil.
We are so thankful that you are in our lives. Thank you so much for your prayers and financial help. May God bless each of you.
We wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. We do have so much to be thankful for.
Yours for Brazil,
Skip and Betty Harkins
