OUR MISSION:
It is our mission to be able to love and encourage the people of Africa by sharing about the saving grace of Jesus Christ found in the gospel. We seek to teach God’s Word verse by verse enabling people to understand the Word more clearly. It is our desire to be able to bring glory to the Lord and to shine His light in the dark places. We hope to be able to teach and disciple while making lasting friendships. We have come to know that this life is not our own and we must live by faith wherever the Lord sends us. We want to encourage the African people to do the same. As we come alongside the people of Africa and teach and disciple them, it is our prayer that they will grow in their own relationship with Jesus and be equipped to teach and disciple others. Then, when they are ready, they will be able to go and serve the Lord or plant a new church, wherever the Lord would lead them.
I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Galatians 2:20
OUR BIOGRAPHIES:
Percy: I grew up in Mbale, Uganda, Africa. Growing up, we attended church only occasionally for Easter and Christmas. I understood there was a God, but I didn’t know much about Him. In 2018, my Dad died, and I tried to cope with a life without him, it was really hard for me. I was addicted to drugs and booze and was drunk all the time. I lost friends and was isolated from my family. I had no job, so I tried to find job opportunities and advance in my education, but it was all in vain. I was depressed and hopeless; none of my intentions succeeded.
In January 2021, I was directed by a friend to the House of Grace Ministry where I attended a Sunday fellowship. I was told how Jesus loves me and she shared with me Psalm 103:8-10. I learned about God’s grace and understood what Jesus has done for me. I knew to be saved, I needed to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. January 10, 2021, I trusted Jesus and was saved and became born again. Not long after that, I joined Nabweya Discipleship Church which was near where I was living. During my time there, the Lord gave me a passionate zeal to serve Him, through learning the Word for myself and to teach it to others. I’m currently attending Bible school where I am receiving an education in the Word of God and being equipped to be a pastor. I was accepted to TBM in May 2024, and we are planting a church in Nabweya to serve and teach the local community about the love of Jesus and what He has done for them.
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. Psalm 103:8-10
LeAnn: I grew up in a small town in Nebraska…in a non-Christian home. I grew up not really knowing who God is. I did believe there was a God and if I was a good person I would get to heaven, but that is where my knowledge of Him stopped. I was saved at the age of 30 and my life has never been the same sense. About 1 1/2 years after I was saved, the Lord gave me the opportunity to go to Kenya, Africa and stay with my brother, Brad and Ellie Harris. The Lord used that trip to stir my heart for foreign missions, and it was my desire to go back to Kenya from the moment I left. In order to be better equipped to serve and to grow closer to the Lord, I attended Frontier School of the Bible. Graduating in 2016, the Lord blessed me again with another great opportunity to return to Africa. Joining with Tentmakers Bible Mission as a part-time missionary in their STEP Program provided me an opportunity to go back to Kenya for a period of 6 months to work alongside Brad and Ellie again to serve the African people. Convinced that I was to be a missionary in Africa, I became a full-time missionary with TBM in 2017. After about a year and half of traveling and sharing with people and churches about what the Lord had put on my heart and was calling me back to Africa for, I went back to Kenya. In 2023, I met Percy on a trip to Uganda to do some ministry. After a time, it became apparent that we were to be united in life and ministry, so I moved to Mbale, Uganda where we minister together now.
The Lord has given me a heart for and a calling to teach women: a clear gospel, an overview of the Bible, some basic doctrine/theology, Christian principals as how to walk the Christian life, and how to be godly women. As I teach, I hope they will learn to teach others who will then teach others (II Timothy 2:2).
